On Monday 14 October Vinnies is hosting a breakfast and panel discussion in support of the ‘Raise the Rate’ campaign. \nDave*\, who was an HR professional with the public service until a few years ago\, and is now couch surfing while surviving on Newstart\, will share his story\, and Dr Cassandra Goldie from ACOSS (Australian Council of Social Services) and Stephen Byron\, Managing Director of Canberra Airport\, will join Dave on the panel to discuss different perspectives on the importance of raising the rate of Newstart. \nAdrienne Francis from ABC Canberra will MC the panel discussion. \nAnti-Poverty Week runs from 13-19 October\, and this year is focused on highlighting the ‘tipping points’ into poverty. \nThis event is by invitation only.
