SUMMARY:Nourishing Meals\, Bright Futures launch - Bundaberg
DESCRIPTION:Nourishing Meals\, Bright Futures is a new initiative by IMPACT Community Services\, which will be launched as part of Anti-Poverty Week in Queensland (October 13-19). \nThis project\, which will roll out early 2025\, is intended to see families collaborate with our hospitality students\, under the expert guidance of trainer Leigh Francis\, to develop customised menus based on dietary needs. The nourishing meals created aim to provide essential sustenance for the families\, particularly for young people\, supporting their wellbeing and learning. \nInitially\, we will involve families from our Intensive Family Support program\, raising awareness within the family unit about healthy diets. This initiative aligns with IMPACT’s focus on holistic wellbeing\, supporting youth emotionally\, educationally\, and physically.

SUMMARY:WEBINAR Repeat Failure: Why Australia’s workforce programs aren’t working
DESCRIPTION:Australia’s social security system is placing ever more obligations and conditions on those it serves\, while simultaneously reducing the support it offers to them. At the same time\, record amounts are being spent supporting private and profit-driven providers to administer the system. \nAll of this is being done under the guise of helping people find work. In light of that rationale and the billions spent on the system each year\, it is timely to ask whether Australia’s approach to workforce participation is serving its purported goal – to help people find work. \nJoin us for a special webinar from Anglicare Australia to learn about Repeat Failure\, a landmark piece of research that unpacks why Australia’s workforce programs aren’t working. You will hear from: \n\nMaiy Azize\, Deputy Director of Anglicare Australia and author of Repeat Failure\nAssociate Professor Elise Klein of the Australian National University’s Crawford School of Public Policy\nwebinKristin O’Connell of the Anti-Poverty Centre.\n\nRegister to receive the link to this dynamic online event

SUMMARY:Chat for Change - End Child Poverty
DESCRIPTION:This Anti-Poverty Week we invite you to host a Chat for Change to End Child Poverty – during 13-19 October. \nPoverty for children isn’t just about missing out on meals or a safe place to sleep. Many might think that a child leaving their precious teddy behind is inconsequential. But children develop deep bonds with their teddies\, that when they have to leave then behind\, it’s like losing a best friend. Children who live in poverty are sometimes forced to move frequently. \nFor children a teddy represents security\, companionship\, comfort\, belonging\, safety and most importantly friendship. Losing a friend at such a young age\, can have a lifelong impact on how they believe in themselves. \n“When I moved\, I didn’t even get to bring my baby teddy bear\, this made me sad and nervous\,”  – Mary 7 years old \nYour Chat for Change can involve: \n\nPrint and place the End Child Poverty Poster around your office\nPlay our video on End Child Poverty to your team\nAsk everyone to sign the petition\nGet your CEO to make a 15sec video\, post and TAG VCI\nPut your event in your newsletter\nAsk ONE organisation to pledge to the campaign\nRegister your Chat for Change event with Anti-Poverty Week here\n\n  \nDOWNLOAD THE CHAT FOR CHANGE PDF

SUMMARY:Report Launch - Essential Connections - The Internet as an Essential Service
