DESCRIPTION:This half day symposium will be held during Anti-Poverty Week 2022 to explore what contributes to child poverty\, its impact on the lives of children and their families\, current impediments to addressing it as well as avenues for its resolution.\nRegistration: 8.30am – 8.50am\nTime: 9:00am – 1:00pm\nLocation: Ballroom\, Government House\, 13 St Georges Tce. Perth\nRegistration: REGISTER AT EVENTBRITE \nSpeakers and panel members include:\nThe Hon Dr Anne Aly MP Minister for Early Childhood Education; Minister for Youth\nJacqueline McGowan-Jones Commissioner for Children and Young People\nAssociate Professor Francis Mitrou Program Head\, Population Health; Telethon Kids Institute\nGlenda Kickett Manager\, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Partnerships and Engagement and Therapeutic Services\, Aboriginal Children and Families; Australian Childhood Foundation\nBella Burgemeister Youth Advocate; Author; Presenter; Valuing Children Initiative Ambassador\nAdjunct Professor Tony Pietropiccolo AM Director Centrecare Inc; Founder Valuing Children Initiative \nThe symposium will be open to all and those who attend will come away with: \n a fuller understanding of child poverty\n a clearer view of the reasons for the high level of child poverty in Australia;\n a realization that child poverty is not intractable;\n the practical ways it can be addressed; and\n how individually and collectively we can halve it by 2030. \nOn behalf of the WA Committee for Anti-Poverty Week 2022\, I invite you and your colleagues to register to attend this event.
