More than 1 million miss out on basic support during COVID-19

ACOSS has worked with a number of key agencies to compile a detailed understanding of the more than 1 million people in Australia who do not have access to income support (including Jobseeker Payment, Youth Allowance or Special Benefit), the JobKeeper wage subsidy or Medicare.  This is despite them having the right to work, study, or seek asylum.  The total number includes over 200,000 people on bridging visas who have no option to ‘go home’.  See Who misses out on access to Australia’s safety net under Covid19 for more.
