Very few people or groups are absent from the affects of poverty or the near poverty experience.
Workers, Women, disabled, students, unemployed, pensioners, injured workers, families, single parents… We all know someone worse off.
The working poor, the need to ‘raise the rate’, cost of living pressures, the consequences of privatisation of our services, medicare co-payments and the stripping of public education funding including TAFE and University. These are all issues that need fixing or we will only see more and more people continue to fall below the poverty line.
By focusing on our similarities and not our differences will we be able to tackle the inequities in our system that assures poverty continues.
Unity across our communities is essential in identifying and highlighting our common experience, and Unity in our efforts to combat the root cause’s and providing the solutions so that all in our communities can plan for a dignified and prosperous future.
Together, We are Stronger!
